Batman: Arkham Asylum 100%
After two big RPG’s I wanted something simple that I had done before. So I picked a game I love Batman: Arkham Asylum
We start the game on hard, the main hinderance this brings is the removal of the signal that enemy’s are attacking, so you can counter. This means keeping an eye on thugs movements.
It makes some of these Combo achievements a tiny bit more difficult. But I have played enough that I have this combat system burned in my brain.
This is a tutorial for how predator sections will work in the future. Simple and quick.
I don’t think you can miss this. Maybe forgetting to save the henchman, not sure.
First fight with a Titian enhanced enemy. You can just wait this one out. He wasn’t finished cooking.
As we fight bigger groups of enemy’s these combo achievements get easier.
This can be done in the first predator room. Just make sure you purchase the inverted takedown upgrade.
We get our introduction to Riddler challenges. I know people don’t like them but I really do. The actual riddles fun and the unlockable character bios are even better.
We make our way outside and smell that sweet ocean air.
Climb to the top of the clock tower and go for a glide. How have only 6% of people done this. Who doesn’t want to jump off large buildings.
We continue to solve riddles and collect trophy’s. I love how annoyed the Riddler becomes throughout the game.
We purchase the Remote Batarang and play catch with ourselves.
Fun section, each doctor has in their own challenge room. Combat, explosive puzzle solving and some platforming.
First of the three Scarecrow encounters. They are all great.
Our first boss fight. Hope this isn’t a sign that they are all not great. Will they all just throw henchmen at you. Yes.
Hot on the Riddler’s trail.
I think the requirements change for this achievement depending on what you have unlocked. So maybe do it earlier then later.
Another fun level, the mansion hold a lot of fun riddles and encounters.
I did this in the first encounter in the mansion. A lot of enemy’s and a lot of space to manoeuvre around.
Second Scarecrow Encounter. This time we get to fight skeletons!
We take down Zsasz again, he isn’t very effective.
I wonder what it looks like to everyone else with Batman running around collecting trophies and scanning posters.
Harley is beaten in a cutscene. Not saying I want another boss fight. Just feels odd.
Over half way and i’m still having a good time.
Playing on hard made this slightly more difficult. But in the gardens when two Titan Henchmen appear, you can use one to damage the other. Just focus on dodging.
This will happened with the previous one. Not to hard if you can actually use Batarangs.
Final and probably most fondly remembered Scarecrow encounter. I remember thinking my game had crashed when I first played it.
So close Nigma! We still need one more item before we can get everything.
Cool idea but just drags on a little to long.
After croc when you are trapped in a room with three elevators. It is a very easy place to get this one.
Ivy boss fight is more involved but again drags on just a bit to long.
Now we have the Ultra Bat Claw and most enemy’s are removed from the map. We can easily clean up the last of the Riddler Challenges.
And done! Riddler is behind bars and we are filled with smug satisfaction.
Really like the Spirit of Amadeus Arkham side story. Seems weird that Bruce doesn’t follow this up and get Sharp arrested. Why does he let him become Mayor.
Simple one but playing on hard does make it slightly more annoying. It is such a confined room.
Like any good game, completing the game on hard unlocks all lower difficulty achievements.
I don’t know the last time I played this game on a lower difficulty. Hard just feels right.
That Joker boss fight sucks though.
Its time for the combat challenges. Each one is set to normal difficulty so don’t worry about playing the game on hard making the challenges more difficult. You can get this easy on the first one.
Most are fine, the highest score you need on some is 50,000. If I don’t get the first bat medal by the end of the first round I restart. That is my barometer for success.
If you can get perfect free flow and dark knight rewards on the first and second round. You have more leeway for error on the final ones.
Honestly got all of these done in just over an hour. Really not to bad, unlike later Batman games where there are hundreds of these challenges.
Most of these are pretty simple, some require a bit more preparation to get enemy’s into position. No harm in watch some YouTube guides. Some people have mastered this game.
Some of the extreme ones require you to get shot. So do this after beating the game on hard. You unlock Armor that makes it more manageable.
There are more challenges on the return to Arkham version of the game. But you do not need to do them for 100% just the original challenges.
Doing all challenges we are a perfect knight. Think I have done this at least 4 times in my life.
Forgot to do this, so just reloaded the first predator challenge and took everyone out.
There it is another game down. Easy game took me a couple of days. Only thing I could see giving people trouble is the Challenges. But with a bit of practice they are quick to do.
The List
The list always is growing and as I am putting so much time into these games. They should be added to the list.
